Wonderful Waikato Gardens Tour
Book one or both days now
One Day = $195
Two Days = $375
We begin the day exploring a local garden that shares a home to many animals including turkeys, emus, donkeys and more!
Next, is a large country garden created in 2006 and continues to evolve. The garden owners have endeavored to create a garden for all seasons using colour, fragrance, and texture.
The next garden contains a striking church of living trees. It is popular with weddings despite the fact that rain will filter through!
The final visit is an early 1900s villa also on the banks of the Waikato. It also has a strong ecclesiastical heritage and much history to relate.
The first estate is the 1930s’ English Cherry Tree Manor, host to the annual Waikato Cherry Tree Festival, which thousands flock to but many get turned away from. There are drystone walls, ponds, a stream, waterfalls, alpacas and much more. There are many interesting and different plants and themed areas. It’s a delight any time of the year.
We make a short stop at a bold romantic garden of mass plantings and strong structural lines.
Next, is an 18-acre garden centred on a former quarry. The quarry now contains a large lily pond and, along a nature trail, there are 50 sculptures.
The final stop is also a popular wedding venue. A stream runs through the estate and widens into a lake at the centre. In addition, the property contains many curious memorabilia from times past such as the 1900 Raglan Tennis Pavilion.
